OUR LIFE TOGETHER, IN 3 “MOVEMENTS”
+ GATHERED
There’s just nothing like getting the whole ‘family’ together! Undoubtedly the most recognizable rhythm in the life of any local church is the weekend gathering for worship and teaching. To gather together as a whole community – to worship in song, sit under strong biblical teaching and to share in the communion of the Lord’s Supper together – is one of the most uplifting and powerful expressions of our corporate life in Christ. The Sunday Gathering, however, is not the sum total of what it means to BE the CHURCH. The church “Gathered" (when it is possible to gather) exists to encourage, equip, and empower the Church “Scattered” and “Called”.
OUR “GATHERINGS” TAKE PLACE ON THE 1ST AND 3RD SUNDAYS OF THE MONTH, 10:00AM AT THE ROCHESTER HILL CAMPUS OF THE ROCHESTER CITY BLESSING CHURCH (159 ROCHESTER HILL RD.)
Come for the singing. Come for the teaching. Come to be introduced to to Jesus, and the community of faith, perhaps for the first time. Seeking? Cynical? A follower of Jesus, looking for a place to worship and serve? We’d love to have you join us!
+ SCATTERED
In spite of our affinity for large gatherings of the faithful, we believe that the Church is - fundamentally - SMALL. Historically, and globally, the Church has been built upon rapidly reproducing, household-based, disciple-making, mission fellowships. We believe that the Church flourishes as Jesus intends where and when the “priesthood” of all believers is allowed to flourish. EVERY follower of Jesus, a bearer of the Spirit. Every person called. Every person empowered for Kingdom mission, wherever the Lord has placed them. This is how the Church has reached - and will reach - the world! As such, we regard the OUTPOST micro-church expression to be the fundamental building block of our mission/strategy/structure. Our aim is to see the regular multiplication of outposts, yielding the periodic multiplication of Gatherings, all in the context of a commitment to the intentional making, maturing and multiplying of wholehearted followers of Jesus, such that we might see a genuine disciple-making, church-planting movement sparked here, in northern New England.
Our TABLE GROUPS are neighborhood-centric “house church” style outposts of 15-20 folks, focused on shared meals, in-depth interaction with scripture, prayer, and on the daily, street-level expressions of church life. We’re so committed to the value of getting our whole community involved at this level that we actually give two whole Sundays a month to “Table” groups.
TABLE GROUPS TAKE PLACE ON THE 2ND AND 4TH SUNDAYS OF THE MONTH IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS, INCLUDING AT OUR "GATHERING" LOCATION, 159 ROCHESTER HILL RD.
We all know that life is too busy, and we prefer that the individuals and families that make up The Commons aren’t being asked to run out to church-related programs and meetings every night of the week. We’d prefer to see folks set free to be present with family, friends, and available for service out in the community. As such we’re not asking anyone to give up another day, or weeknight, in order to fully participate in the community life of The Commons.
+ CALLED
Central to our VALUES as a community is the conviction that every follower of Jesus is CALLED into participation with the redemptive, healing purposes of Jesus and the work of his Kingdom in the world. Compelled by the eternal hope of Christ’s ultimate victory over all things evil, broken and mournful, we are set free to serve and labor with joy in the midst of the messiness of our world – our families, workplaces, neighborhoods and cities. We wholeheartedly believe in what scripture describes as the “priesthood of ALL believers”: it is not a question of IF we are called by Christ, but only TO WHOM / WHAT / WHERE we are called! Our circumstances, gifts, personalities and history work together, in the grace and redeeming power of Christ, to shape what the CALLING that the Spirit of the Lord will look like each of us, uniquely and personally.
As we are CALLED, so we are sent to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world.
Join us for a time of teaching, prayer, worship and conversation on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month at the Rochester Hill campus of the Rochester City Blessing Church (159 Rochester Hill Rd. Rochester, NH), 4:00PM.
At this time, we are in the midst of a study and teaching series that we're calling "Teach Us To Pray”, journeying through the Lord’s Prayer. If you've never had the chance to spend a Sunday morning with The Commons, this is a great opportunity to get a feel for our family of faith. Don't miss it!
Homebound? HOME+CHURCH with us.
For those joining “from away”, or who are otherwise unable to make it out in person, we offer a livestream of our GATHERING service through YouTube live, with an additional INTERACTIVE space hosted via ZOOM (links to both spaces below), as well as additional Home+Church worship, teaching and fellowship resources. With SECOND and FOURTH SUNDAYS hosted and facilitated through our local neighborhood OUTPOSTS, links to those resources and our ZOOM-based outpost available on our TABLE resource page.
HOME+CHURCH Resources
1.) TRELLIS: COMMON PRACTICES
In a world where many of our everyday rhythms and fellowship can be suddenly disrupted, encouraging and equipping people for some shared spiritual disciplines becomes ever-more important. The Commons invites our community into a collection of shared practices in the aim of daily growing together in Christ-likeness. More information can be found on our TRELLIS resource page, HERE.
2.) SCRIPTURE STUDY
On a bi-weekly basis, prior to 2nd and 4th Sunday’s each month, a link to a guided scripture study, following along with our ongoing study and teaching series, will be posted on our TABLE resource page, HERE. These studies can be done individually on your own schedule prior to Sunday morning, or done on our Sunday morning schedule as part of an Outpost.
3.) SUNDAY SCHEDULE & TEACHING
For GATHERING Sundays, we will offer the following morning schedule and resources:
9:30 AM - MORNING PRAYER (Self-Guided)
10:00 AM - YouTube Live Service / ZOOM interactivity
The Home+Church 10:00 AM Live Stream will be set up through YouTube live, with an additional INTERACTIVE space hosted via ZOOM (link to join, and info to call in via phone, below).
No service audio via ZOOM: for digital congregant interactivity only.
Welcome to The TABLE.
As a community splitting our time evenly between our “Gathered” and “Scattered” expressions, this resource page is updated on a bi-weekly basis with scripture study notes for our OUTPOST-based “Table” Sundays (2nd and 4th Sundays every month). This same text will then be the focus of our teaching and corporate worship on the “Gathering” Sunday (1st and 3rd Sundays every month) which follows.
We also provide a link whereby anyone may join our “VIRTUAL” TABLE outpost (on “Table” Sundays) via ZOOM at 10:00am each 2nd and 4th Sunday, should they be unable to join us in person on any given week.
For our ZOOM study group, we invite folks to download the study notes (link below) and dig in for some personal study time beforehand: beginning around 9:30am, or whenever otherwise convenient. At 10:00am, we fire up the ZOOM meeting and come together for a group conversation about our observations, interpretations and applications from the text. We close our time together in prayer.

Beginning in June 2024, we’ll be taking our next year or so together in study to journey through the Gospel of John.
As followers of Jesus - knowing and trusting Him as our source, sustainer, salvation and eternal hope, and apprenticing to Him as he embodies for us the way unto the life that truly IS life - it is fitting and vital that we regularly encounter Jesus, in the intimacy of the accounts of His life and ministry. He is so very GOOD, and beautiful, compelling, profoundly brilliant, perfectly loving and perfectly righteous; He is simply unlike any other person who has ever walked upon the face of the earth, and worthy of our unending fascination. Worthy, in fact, of our worship. Worthy, of our lives!
As the Apostle John shares with us his record of the life and teaching and Gospel of Jesus, he himself tells us his motivation for doing so:
“… these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:31)
May this become daily and increasingly true for us, as we walk this road with John, and with Jesus, over the months ahead. May we together come to believe - believe ever and all the more fully, joyfully, and wholeheartedly - in this one we call Savior and Lord as we follow him into life, abundant and eternal.
